The 34-year-old pop star will also debut her new single Make Me from her upcoming album Glory at the award ceremony.
MTV confirmed the news of the Toxic singer’s performance during this year’s VMAs on Twitter. “Get ready… @BritneySpears will be performing at the 2016#VMAs on Sunday, August 28 at 9/8c!” the tweet read.
Even Spears shared the exciting news on social media on Tuesday 16 August with a promo video that remembered her memorable 2001 performance of I’m A Slave 4 U. The mother-of-two created history during the MTV awards earlier as she walked in to the stage with an albino python draped over her shoulders.
“The VMAs don’t just give you a stage. They give you a story — some way of taking a fraction of a second, and making it live forever. Before you know it, it’s history. Before you know it, it’s Britney, bi***,” Spears is heard saying in the background of the promo video shared by her.
This year’s VMAs will be all the more exciting for the fans of the pop star as she is set to debut her new single Make Me from her upcoming album Glory.
The Womaizer hitmaker will be joined by rapper G-Eazy. Both have collaborated for Spears’s new song during this year’s ceremony. Before the pair serenades the audience with the lead song from their album, Glory will be released on 26 August.Other than Spears, Rihanna, too, will grace the award ceremony as she receives the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for her decade-long influence on music, fashion and pop culture. The Work songstress will also entertain with a performance of her own during the 2016 VMAs.
